Stripping with Citristrip!

Here’s our dilemma - It’s the middle of Winter and we need to remove the paint off our furniture, and stripping chemicals are way too harsh to use inside. So here’s our options: One, wear many layers of clothes and deal with the single digit temperatures outside. Two, get a kickass sander that creates no dust and can cut through many layers of paint (don’t have one, but hopefully soon). Three, find a safe chemical that we can use to strip our furniture inside.

Obviously, option three was the route we needed to take so in that case CitriStrip was the way to go! This good smelling, environmentally friendly stripper is easy to use, and the best part is, it can be used indoors!

What you need:

Step 1:

Use a brush and apply the Citristrip liberally over the surface you want to remove.

Step 2:

Place the plastic drop cloth or plastic bags over the stripper. This prevents the stripper from drying out.

***We find it’s best to wait at least 2 hours, or for better results 24 hours before removing the stripper***

Step 3:

Start scrapping! Use the plastic scraper to remove the stripper. This can get messy so its best to have a sheet of plastic under the furniture and place the stripped paint into a bucket.

***If all the paint does not come off then repeat steps 1-3***

Step 4:

Once all the paint has been stripped off now you need to remove the excess Citristrip. Pour the mineral spirits onto a towel or onto the furniture and wipe away the Citristrip. Make sure to remove all the Citristrip before you sand or paint.
