Let's Get Painting! How it all started!
Where do I begin?
I'm a Mom of two beautiful children. Britta is 7 and Ethan is 5. Balancing life and work is a daily struggle for me. School, work, homework, ice skating, hockey, therapy, and now a new business! Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing to myself. The amazing thing is that everything gets figured out, it all gets done, and I try not to worry about it too much!
Yes, that's correct I wrote therapy. Therapy has been a normal routine in our family since my son was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old. Our family has been through so many emotions since his diagnosis but in the end we couldn't imagine our son any other way. We call Autism "Human 2.0". We don’t think of Autism as a disability but just a different way of how someone thinks and views the world. Ethan is so easy going, loves to play with everyone, and lives life to the fullest. I wish I could be more like him and just take things as they come. If I could only view the world through his eyes life would be much simpler. We are so proud of how far he has come. At one point we were going to three therapy appointments a week. He has been doing so well that we are now down to two, and hopefully soon down to one!
My daughter Britta is our little princess! She will see beauty in anything, and has such a caring heart. But that soft exterior does not show her toughness. She’s a little firecracker!
Let's meet my wonderful business partner Eric. Not only is he my business partner but he's my amazing husband. We are high school sweethearts, and have been together for more than 17 years!!! Crazy! I couldn't imagine this journey without him.
My husband has always been average with wood working. In the past we've put up new kitchen's, trim, moldings and shiplap, but never worked with furniture. Since we started this business woodworking and working with furniture has been like second nature to him. It's like it was meant to be! He does the woodworking and I do the painting. How perfect, right?
I have always enjoyed doing crafts and painting, but I didn't start painting furniture till a couple years ago. In 2016 we moved into a smaller home which meant I had lots of furniture to sell. I had painted a few of my own pieces in the past so I thought it would be fun to paint and resell the pieces we no longer needed... and that's where the crazy begins! After selling a few of my own pieces I had several people approach me and ask to paint some furniture for them. After doing several pieces for clients we started going out and buying furniture to redo. From that point on I kept painting and we started this amazing company we are proud to call our own.
